Harry Lee Fields

October 11, 1937 - August 13, 2013

Mr. Harry Lee Fields, 75, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at his home.
The funeral service will be conducted Friday at 4 pm in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Harry Lee, a native of Greene County attended Campbell University and served in the United States Navy. After his military service he returned to the Snow Hill community and began working at the DuPont plant near Kinston. In 1987 he married Nannie Sue Crawford Best and made his home in Greenville, where he became a member of the Red Oak Christian Church.
Harry retired from DuPont in 1993 and spent many enjoyable days with his family, traveling with friends and playing golf. He also enjoyed drawing and painting. He could often be found at Andy’s in the afternoons doing his crossword puzzle. Harry most recently was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Red Oak Community Fire Dept.
Harry Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Brown and Lossie Bel Fields, a sister, Dorothy F. Barrow and her husband, Wiley, a brother-in-law, Kermit Radford and son in law, Richard Turnage.
He is survived by his:
wife of 26 years, Nannie Sue Fields,
daughters, Joni Fields Turnage Medlin and husband, Jeff, of Wilson,
Debbie Best Hathaway and husband, Gene, and
Ashley Best Turner and husband, Christoph, all of Greenville;
sisters, Barbara F. Radford of Tarboro and Nell F. Sauls and husband, Ned, of Shine;
grandchildren, Josh and Banx Turnage, Jordan and Kalee Hathaway and Amanda Young, Sullivan, Crawford, and Tyson Turner; and
two great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday from 2:30 until 3:30 pm prior to the funeral at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
