Louise “Kid” Hooks Stox, 90, went to be with her Lord on Monday, July 19, 2010 after an extended illness.
The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Reedy Branch Free Will Baptist Church. Private interment will be held in Pinewood Memorial Park.
She was a life-long resident of Winterville where she spent many years farming. She was an active member of Reedy Branch Free Will Baptist Church until her illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; daughter, Rachel; great- grandson, Skyler Jenkins; parents, Ernest and Lena Hooks; sister, Estelle Thorpe; and brothers, James “Big Boy”, Ernest “Tommy”, Charlie “Hooksie” and Johnny “Poss” Hooks.
She is survived by
a daughter, Janice Shaffer and husband, Jim, of Winterville;
three grandchildren, Jim Shaffer and wife, Chris, of Atlanta, GA,
Ron Shaffer and wife, Anne, of Spring Hope and
Kelly Jenkins and husband, Ricky, of Red Oak;
brothers, Linwood Hooks of Winterville and
Lee Arnold “Pete” Hooks and wife, Eleanor, of Greenville;
sister-in-law, Ann Hooks of Winterville and
six great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday one hour prior to the service in the parlor of the church and other times at the home.
