Mr. John Walter Stancill, 75, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010.
A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 2 pm in the mausoleum at Pinewood Memorial Park by the Rev. David Langley.
Mr. Stancill was a native of Pitt County and attended the Winterville Schools. He lived and farmed the majority of his life in the Ayden community. Mr. Stancill had a special interest in antiques and enjoyed traveling.
He was preceded in death by a son, John Walter Stancill, Jr., sister, Marjorie Bryant, and a granddaughter, Melissa Ann Stancill.
He is survived by his:
wife of 56 years, Helen Jones Stancill;
sons, Johnny Ray Stancill, of the home,
Curtis Wayne Stancill and wife, Kelly, of Grifton,
Linwood Earl Stancill, and
Randy Lee Stancill, both of Ayden;
sisters, Dorothy Stancill Hood, and
Barbara Stancill Penland, both of Chesapeake, VA;
eight grandchildren; and
two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.
