Wilkerson Funeral Home and Crematory has a crematory on site at our Fifth Street location. This is important because it allows us complete control. All facets of the cremation process from the removal of the body to the return of the cremated remains to the family are performed by our experienced staff in our facility.
The greatest misunderstanding about cremation is the belief that with cremation, there is no need for services. A service, with or without the body present, is an important step in helping the bereaved family overcome their grief while offering family and friends the opportunity to gather together and celebrate the life that has been lived.
Services or ceremonies can precede or follow the actual cremation and can be tailored to meet the families' preferences, whether it is simple, contemporary, religious or secular. Many families choose to have a visitation time at the funeral home with the body present. Other families may have a visitation, but without the body. The family may wish to have a funeral service in a church or our chapel. In this case, the body would be present in a casket or a cremation container. If the family chooses not to have the body present, it is called a memorial service. The urn containing the cremated remains can be present or not at the memorial service.
In today's economy, we understand that some families must focus on finding the most affordable solution. At Wilkerson Funeral Home, we offer Economy Cremation and Burial options designed specifically for families who must budget what they spend. As with all service options, they include the compassionate and professional care that we have built our reputation on.
