Obituary for Patsy Tyndall Nichols

Mrs. Patsy Tyndall Nichols, 82, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Brookdale Senior Living on Dickinson Avenue in Greenville.

A private graveside service will be held in Pinewood Memorial Park.

Mrs. Nichols, daughter of the late James and Bernice Tyndall, was born in the Chicod Township of Pitt County. She grew up in the Pactolus community and lived most of her adult life in Greenville. She was a graduate of Winterville High School, class of 1955. She worked for ECU in Accounts Payable for 25 years until her retirement in 2002. She was a longtime member of Oakmont Baptist Church. There she served with a heart for hospitality and visitation. She also had a love for music and enjoyed singing with both the choir and the JOY Singers. Patsy cherished time spent with her family. Whether it was a visit by phone or in person with her siblings, she had a heart of concern and love for each one. During her time at Brookdale, the visits she received from her family and church friends meant so much to both Patsy and her boys. Patsy particularly enjoyed celebrating special days and all times she could be with her grandchildren as they were her joy. Her excellence in cooking was a gift she enjoyed sharing with family and others.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dot Nobles; brothers-in-law, Terry Gene Nobles, Clifton Brock, and Virgil Barnhill.

She is survived by her: sons, Eddie Nichols and wife, Cindy, of Ayden, and Bobby Nichols and wife, Kim, of Apex; grandchildren, Katie Summers and husband, Matt, of Statesville, Christopher Nichols, and wife, Anna, of Raleigh, Emily Coble, husband, Conner, and their son, Landon, of Fayetteville, Caroline Sides and husband, Logan, of Morrisville, and Andrew Nichols of Greenville; brothers, James Tyndall and wife, Debbie, of Winterville, and Ronnie Tyndall and wife, Laura, of Wilmington; sisters, Betty Lou Brock of Winterville, Shirley Barnhill of Greenville, and Frances Tyndall of Burlington; special lifelong friends, Alice Dickens and Peggy Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Special thank you to the Brookdale Dickinson Avenue Senior Living community family for their care, love and compassion.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that you honor Patsy’s memory by doing a kind deed for someone in the form of visiting a shut-in, sending a card, sharing gifts of food, or donations to those in need.
