Obituary for Roscoe Heber Heath, Jr.

Mr. Roscoe Heber Heath Jr., 82, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday morning, January 2, 2019.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2:30 at Parkers Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

R. H. was born and raised in Pitt County in the Simpson Community. He grew up on a farm, graduating from Grimesland High School and attended East Carolina University. He married Sandra Thompson in 1965. When he was a freshman at East Carolina University he helped renovate Cotten Hall. He was known for his work ethic. For 34 years he was employed by A.B. Whitley Company as a foreman and coating artisan. Also in his younger years he was assistant manager of Collins-Prigmore Clothing Stores, downtown Greenville. In 1998 he started working for Trade-Wilco and Hess as a maintenance technician. R.H. loved his family and friends and had never met a stranger. He enjoyed spending time with his family at the river where he made his own nets and crab pots. R.H. loved his church family at Parkers Chapel and he was an usher for over 30 years and also taught Junior Church. When the church was built he supervised the painting and staining. He loved greeting people and talking to everyone. He was a peacemaker and a servants heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe Heath Sr. and Abbie Mae Porter Heath and a brother, Donald Heath.

He is survived by his: loving wife of 53 years, Sandra Thompson Heath; daughters, Tracey Heath Lantz and Stacey Heath Stox and husband, Stephen; grandchildren, Austin Lantz, Alexis Lantz, Alaina Lantz, Abigail Lantz, Noah Stox and Grace Stox;sister, Jo Anne Fussell and husband, Charles; sister-in-law, Robin Mitchell and husband, Andy; nieces, Dee Ann Speer, Jill Hardee and Jessica Mitchell; nephews, Randy Fussell, Jeffrey Fussell and Jim Garris;

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6 – 8 pm at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
