Obituary for Willie Ellis Eakes

Mr .Willie E. Eakes, 79, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2020.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 4 PM in Pinewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Mr. Eakes, a native of Edgecombe County, had lived all of his life in the Pactolus community of Pitt County. He was employed with the North Carolina Department of Transportation for 14 years and the Greenville Utilities Commission for 16 years before retiring. Mr. Eakes loved to hunt, fish, and cut grass. He was also a proud member of the Rams Horn Hunting Club.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sara Sutton Eakes; son, Lee Eakes; granddaughter, Sara-Katherine Eakes; and brother, Raymond Eakes and wife, Charlotte.

Memorials may be made to Sweet Gum Grove FWB Church, 787 Sweet Gum Grove Church Road, Stokes, NC 27884.
